The Original: Billy Bob Thornton steals the show here as a very, very sketchy department store Santa, resulting in an uproariously funny, family-unfriendly Christmas movie. Dark and irreverent, there are few holiday movies like it, and Thornton was nominated for a Best Actor Golden Globe for his efforts. The Sequel: Bad Santa 2 was first announced in 2009, but production has been delayed several times since, largely owing to issues with the script. Entourage creator Doug Ellin is reportedly rewriting the film, which is currently set for a 2016 release date, presuming of course that filming gets underway in the next 6 months. Will It Be Any Good?: In an interview late last year, even Thornton himself rather diplomatically said, "Were never gonna beat the first one but you got to get as close as you can", and while the production issues don't give fans a ton of hope, it's also possible that the long gestation period will result in a considered, well thought-out, and most importantly, funny sequel. But as Thornton said, don't expect something as fresh as the original.
