15 Movie Trailers You Won't Believe Were Allowed To Exist

7. The Most Unfaithful Adaptation? - Bridge To Terabithia

In a rather transparent attempt to cash in on the enormous box office success of 2005's The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, distributor Buena Vista (who also released Narnia) opted to market this adaptation of Katherine Paterson's novel as a quaint, soft-as-cotton-candy Narnia knock-off.

This trailer ticks all the safe, bland, family-friendly boxes that so often equal box office dynamite, even though it was massively unrepresentative of what the film actually is.

Bridge to Terabithia is actually a surprisingly heartbreaking story about dealing with unexpected death, but the trailer seemed to suggest that the edgier elements of the source material had been cleaved away and the fantasy aspects exaggerated.

When a certain character dies later in the movie, it sure as Hell would've shocked kids and parents alike after watching this trailer. While the film they got was in fact much better than the one sold to them, it's still pretty sketchy to misrepresent the end product so blatantly.
