15 Movies From This Decade (So Far) Destined To Become Classics

11. Dallas Buyers Club

Dallas Buyers Club might not have marked the beginning of the McConaiassance (both Mud and Killer Joe marked his move away from interminable rom-comland) but his Ocar-winning performance was the first major sign that a truly great actor had been (re)born. Matthew McConaughey stars as Ron Woodroof, a rodeo rider and substance abuser who discovers he has AIDS and defies the prognosis saying he has 30 days to live, setting up the titular club to help others in his position acquire drugs deemed illegal by the FDA. While the subject matter is very much of a specific time and place (it's based on a true story), the emotional core is so profoundly depicted that it draws sympathy out of the most hardened viewer. Jared Leto as a transsexual woman Rayon more than holds his own - this is the film in which two great actors finally started to shine.
