15 Movies That Made 2017 The Dumbest Year Ever
3. 9/11
A September 11th drama starring Charlie Sheen? Enough said, really. 9/11 is a fundamentally terrible if admittedly well-intended drama about a group of people trapped inside an elevator in one of the Twin Towers when tragedy strikes.
Weirdly also starring the talented likes of Gina Gershon, Wood Harris and Luis Guzmán, the film is simply too indelicate to tackle a real-world tragedy with any class or tact, resulting in unintentional giggles and an overwhelming feeling that the film is disrespecting the very thing it wants to honour.
Sheen is so, so wrong for this, especially as he has declared himself a 9/11 Truther in the past, layering the entire film with an undeniable ickiness that's enhanced by the shockingly awful dialogue, which surely can't be lifted from the award-winning play on which the film is based.
There's absolutely a version of this film which could've worked without feeling exploitative or manipulative, but this sure ain't it.
