15 Movies That Thought They Were Smart But Totally Weren't

6. The Now You See Me Films

These terrible heist films (and sadly a third film is apparently on the way), which revolve around a group of magicians carrying out robberies during their magic shows, are filled with twist after twist after twist and seem to think they're being incredibly clever, when honestly they're really not. They're just extremely silly and spit in the face of logic, not to mention the laws of physics.

The best example of this is the first film's twist ending, which reveals that FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo), who has been chasing the robbers throughout the film, is actually the real mastermind of the operation. Not only is this mind-meltingly stupid and illogical, but it actually negates the whole film since the apparent antagonist was never actually trying to catch the robbers.

Similarly, the second film ends with a reveal that negates much of the story. It turns out that Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman), an apparent enemy of the magicians and 'The Eye', the secret society they're part of, is actually a member of The Eye himself.

One can only imagine with terror the stupidities the next film will unleash upon anyone unfortunate enough to see it.
