Like it or not, there are a couple of enormous film franchises that will forever define our era of cinema. The MCU is probably the more welcome of the crop (though not for some), but thanks to their financial power-housing, both Transformers and the Fast & The Furious

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Transformers movies had been around for longer than they have - more like the 16 years of Vin Diesel's petrol-headed competitor franchise, in fact - but there have only been ten years since it kicked off. That's a year for every hour of the first four movies, or a year for every $300m the series has so far made.

It might feel like the series will be here forever (particularly with the mooted plans for about 100 sequels), but that's just a trick of Old Father Time. You've had to endure the franchise for a while, but it's actually only been 10 years.

And to give it some due credit, the effects really don't look a decade out of date.
