15 Movies You Won’t Believe Are 20 Years Old

Bane Poison Ivy Batman And Robin
20th Century Fox

With worldwide box office takings of $1.84 billion, James Cameron’s Titanic was 1997’s highest grossing movie. It didn’t fare too badly with the critics either earning sparkling reviews from the likes of Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel and winning 11 of its 14 Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.

Funnily enough, many a critic predicted the film would sink faster than its fateful namesake at the box office because of its huge budget ($200 million, then the most expensive film ever made) but luckily for Cameron, Titanic was a huge hit with teenage girls thanks to its then teen heartthrob star Leonardo DiCaprio who had a generation of young women (and probably some older ones too) wishing he’d paint them like one of his French girls.

On the downside, Titanic was the movie responsible for unleashing that godawful Celine Dion song My Heart Will Go On upon the world’s ears. So yeah, thanks for that Titanic.
