Blumhouse occasionally dabbles outside of the horror genre; in this particular case, it was lucky enough to have its name on a Best Picture nominee, as well as one of the best films of 2018.

Black Klansman, which is easily Spike Lee's best film for decades, is a beautifully written gem. Funny, tense, haunting and occasionally terrifying, Black Klansman is an unforgettable combination of different genres that makes for both a terrific historical drama and a disturbing reminder of the racial divisions in today's society.

With an ingenious screenplay, a phenomenal cast and Spike Lee's charismatic direction, Black Klansman is by far one of the smartest historical dramas of recent years and makes for a unique, utterly unforgettable viewing.

When this lost Best Picture to the utterly inferior Green Book, a movie that also focused on racial issues, Spike Lee attempted to storm out of the ceremony and who can blame him? If any race-related film should've won Best Picture for 2018, it definitely should've been this.
