15 Must-See Blumhouse Movies

10. Happy Death Day

Sinister Ethan Hawke
Universal

Although it was let down a little by the tame PG-13 rating and lack of actual scares, Happy Death Day is nevertheless a highly enjoyable slasher comedy with plenty of twists, thrills and heart. Come to think of it, it's easily one of the best horror comedies since Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil.

Benefiting from an engaging, highly twisty mystery plot, a great leading performance from Jessica Rothe and a heartfelt central character arc, Happy Death Day is a very well-formed genre flick and by far and away one of the best films from the now largely-dormant slasher sub-genre.

Unfortunately, Happy Death Day 2U, the film's sequel, was a big let-down and under-performed at the box office, meaning Happy Death Day 3 is not particularly likely according to producer Jason Blum. Still, while this won't become one of Blumhouse's franchises, it'll definitely be remembered fondly by horror fans.
