What It's About: The year is 1978, the setting is Boston, and the film deals with the fallout of a botched meeting between two gangs, which of course ends in bloodshed.

Why It Can Save Hollywood: Ben Wheatley (Kill List, A Field in England, High-Rise) is one of the most singular filmmakers working today, and to see him paired with a cast including Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Jack Reynor, Michael Smiley and Sam Riley certainly indicates a step-up from his previous films.

Plus, Martin Scorsese is signed on as executive producer, so what bigger stamp of approval could the crime thriller possibly get? Wheatley is reportedly trying to channel the vibe of 70s crime thrillers, and with so many boxes being ticked, this could easily end up as his biggest hit to date.
