Peter Parkers first love Gwen Stacy first died in the comics back in 1973. Writer Gerry Conway penned the issue where the Green Goblin lobbed her off a bridge, and Spider-Man failed to save her. In April 2014, the film version of this storyline in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Emma Stone in the tragic role made these wounds feel fresh again. A few months before that, Deadpool was cracking wise about Ms Stacys demise. In issue 3 of The Gauntlet, he told the reader that some empty streets in Greece were "deader than Gwen Stacy." Even after forty years since the original comic was published, that one still seems too soon. Of course, by this stage we know not to expect any less from The Merc With A Mouth.
