15 PERFECT Scenes In Otherwise Disappointing Movies

1. Bohemian Rhapsody: Live Aid

The Lost World Sarah
Fox

Bohemian Rhapsody was a diverting but overall mediocre biopic that was mainly kept afloat by Rami Malek's great performance. Otherwise, terrible editing, a safe PG-13 approach to the subject matter, rushed pacing and formulaic writing made this one of the least deserving Best Picture nominees of recent times.

For much of its run-time the film just goes through the highlights of Freddie Mercury's life without ever packing a true punch, but at the very end, as the film recreates Queen's famous Live Aid performance, the film suddenly becomes masterful.

This 20-minute finale is a spectacular and unforgettable music sequence. Not only is it brilliantly made and euphoric to watch, but it's also intensely emotional, since it depicts a comeback for Freddie Mercury following a dark period in his life; it's also clear his premature death isn't far off. As such, this performance serves as a poignant and wonderful tribute to a much-missed artist by highlighting just how gifted he truly was.

It's likely that, whatever anyone thought of the film itself, this sequence will be goosebump-inducing and will probably get tears from many, especially when 'We are the Champions' is performed.

Overall, the epitome of brilliant cinema lurking within a merely passable film.
