15 PERFECT Scenes In Otherwise Disappointing Movies

12. The Island: My Name Is Lincoln

The Lost World Sarah
Warner Bros.

The Island is probably Michael Bay's least commercially successful film to date aside from 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and it entirely deserved it.

Hampered by its cliched dystopian plot, Bay's awful directing, a surprising lack of compelling action and Ewan McGregor's dreadful attempt at an American accent, The Island is an undeniable dud.

Still, the final scene of the film felt like it came from a different, far better movie. The ending, which shows the imprisoned clones escaping from the compound they've been kept in and seeing the outside world for the first time, is actually highly stirring and benefits from something rare: restrained, intelligent directing from Michael Bay.

Better still, the scene has an amazing soundtrack called "My Name is Lincoln", composed by Steve Jablonsky, which crescendos to goosebump-inducing effect as the clones escape. This soundtrack deserved a far better movie; weirdly enough, despite how awful most of Michael Bay's filmography is, his movies always have great musical scores.
