15 PERFECT Scenes In Otherwise Disappointing Movies

11. Ted 2: Sweet Caroline

The Lost World Sarah
Universal Pictures

Ted was a lot of fun when it first came out, but it's aged very poorly as it was basically a one-joke film. The concept of a foul-mouthed teddy bear no longer feels fresh, so inevitably this tedious sequel didn't work at all, especially since it centres around an entirely uninteresting court case story-line.

It's, in general, a pretty lazy movie and a big example is the way in which the film brings back Donny (Giovanni Ribisi), the first movie's villain. Still, every cloud has a silver lining and this one certainly does, since it leads to one of the very few truly funny scenes in the movie.

When Donny chases Ted at a Comic Con event, Ted hides by standing in a shelf of identical teddy bears. Donny then starts singing Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, believing that since the song is so catchy Ted won't be able to resist singing along and revealing himself. Sure enough, Ted ends up instinctively singing out the chorus with Donny and gives himself away.

Weak as the film is, this was a genuinely great gag and will probably reduce most viewers to hysterics.
