15 Planned Horror Film Remakes That Thankfully Never Happened

4. The Brood

Like John Carpenter, Cronenberg's films seem ripe for the remake treatment, even if those remakes are only talked about and never actually materialise. There have been whispers of remakes of Cronenberg films such as Videodrome, Shivers and others for years. Back in 2009 there were more than just whispers about a potential remake of The Brood, Cronenberg's undeniably creepy 1979 sci-fi horror about a group of murders that are ostensibly carried out by a group of evil children (oh but there's a twist). Spyglass Entertainment announced the remake would be going ahead with a script by Cory Goodman (Priest) to be directed by Breck Eisner (The Crazies). Eisner left the project in 2010 and since then nothing more has been reported on the project. Spyglass Entertainment have not produced a film since 2012's The Vow and The Brood remake appears to be off (thankfully).
