15 Planned Horror Film Remakes That Thankfully Never Happened

15. An American Werewolf In London

Dimension Films announced in June 2009 that they intended to produce a remake of John Landis' classic black comedy/horror An American Werewolf in London. The news coincided with the original films long-anticipated Blu-Ray release. About a year later it was confirmed that the film was being fast-tracked with Fernley Phillips (The Number 23) tasked with penning the script and trying to give it a modern feel. It was strongly rumoured that the film would be shot for release in 3D, standard practice when it comes to horror cinema these days (unfortunately). Dimension had a lot on their plate, however, and An American Werewolf in London was put on the back-burner. Fans of the cult classic let out a howl of relief when it because clear that the film wasn't going to be remade. The closest the film has come to being remade so far was when John Landis' son Max did a homemade version of the transformation as a birthday gift to his father. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo_Qn-U3_Qk#t=126
