It seems like Hollywood's creative stagnation is at an all-time high at the moment: sequels, prequels, interquels, remakes, reboots, reimaginings and so on are very much the order of the day, but especially sequels. If an original project is a smash hit with audiences, then why wouldn't it have a sequel, right? No matter if the premise is absurdly unlikely to happen twice: audiences will swallow it down because Hollywood tells them to, right? Though there are plenty of movie sequels that adequately justified their existence and sometimes even outdid the original movie, these 15 flicks are all far from that: they simply regurgitated what worked the first time around, but with largely diminished returns, adopting a "take the money and run" approach instead. With the recent release of the immensely lazy Horrible Bosses 2, what better time to look at some of the ridiculous sequels Hollywood has peddled to audiences over the years? Some coasted on the goodwill of the original movie and still made a solid buck, whereas others were well-deserved failures for putting in such little effort to part viewers with their money.
