15 Popular Movies Which Were Notoriously Difficult To Produce

Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs was a fantastic director debut and kickstarted a series of enjoyably violent movies. But it wasn’t easy as Tarantino’s low budget hindered the project.

Many of the actors arrived on set ready to perform in their own clothes, as well as cars being borrowed rather than rented and the entire soundtrack budget was spent on securing the “Stuck in the Middle With You” song.

A lack of funds also meant certain scenes had to be filmed in real time – an example being when Mr Pink (Steve Buscemi) forces a woman out of her car and drives off with it. This could only be achieved when the stop lights were green since Tarantino couldn't afford police assistance for traffic control.

Reservoir Dogs was filmed during the hottest time of the year. The warehouse was extremely uncomfortable, especially with the added heat of the lights. Tim Roth especially suffered because he got stuck to the floor from laying on a sticky puddle of fake blood and had to be peeled off.

Furthermore, Lawrence Tierney was burdensome because he was so easily distracted and kept forgetting his lines. It caused frequent delays in filming to the point where some important moments, such as finding out what happened to Mr Blue, had to be ultimately removed.
