7. Minions Will Be The Year's Highest-Grossing Animated Film
In addition to two Pixar movies being released next year, there's also Hotel Translyvania 2, a Spongebob movie, and Kung Fu Panda 3, but all of them will likely be smoked at the box office by Minions, a spin-off from the Despicable Me franchise. Considering that a) Despicable Me 2 made an insane $970 million at the box office and b) the main reason for that is the hilarity of the minions, it seems logical that a minions-centric movie will be a ridiculous success, and dare we say, even cross the $1 billion mark? If directors Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda can make the most of their hilarious premise, which shows the minions ruining various villains through time (such as Genghis Khan and Dracula) before seeking out new masters at a villain convention, this has the potential to be even better than the Despicable Me movies. As for the fact that 100 minutes of minion speak might be a tad grating? That's what Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock are for, playing husband-wife duo Herb and Scarlet Overkill and hopefully helping the movie have a coherent plot.
