15 Predictions For 2016 Movies That Everybody Got Wrong
Deadpool Vs Wolverine? Dream on.
Fan theories have become a big part of pre-release hype in the last couple of years, as they help stoke excitement for upcoming movies. Part of the pre-release fun is fans trading ideas and predictions back and forth, with some of those predictions becoming viral in their own right.
The issue is these ideas are often just wild speculation with no real evidence, but some fans just accept them as fact regardless. This can be dangerous, since it builds expectations for a movie that doesn’t exist, often leading to needless disappointment. 2016 had a hell of a line-up of movies audiences were psyched for, and they came attached with any number of wild theories about what would happen.
Aside from a couple of instances – turns out Superman did die after all - most of this speculation was total BS. Before they disappear into the mists of time, lets dust them off once more and examine them, and see if they were even close to the mark.
15. Steve Rogers Will Die - Captain America: Civil War
Chris Evans had previously made noise about leaving acting after his Marvel contract was complete, and since that time was drawing close with Civil War, there was talk of Steve Rogers taking a bullet by the end of the movie.
These theories had credibility too. Rogers died at the end of the Civil War comic where he was shot dead by Crossbones, who was also making his first appearance in the film. Plus a common complaint from distracters is that nobody dies in the MCU, and the trailers heavily teased that someone major wasn’t going to make the end credits.
That was a lot of build-up for nothing, though; Crossbones is dead within ten minutes, and Steve is just a bit bruised by the end.
