15 Problems Only Film Fans In 2016 Would Understand
7. The Emotional Devastation Of Star Trek Beyond
As much as Star Trek Beyond was mounted as an action-packed tribute to classic Trek, the film had an undeniably dark pall cast over it by the death of Leonard Nimoy a few months before filming began, and Anton Yelchin's unexpected death barely a month before its release.
Nimoy's Spock Prime was written out in touching fashion with young Spock (Zachary Quinto) going through a deceased Spock Prime's belongings and finding a picture of the original series' cast.
Yelchin meanwhile got a dedication in the credits, sure to leave fans with a bittersweet feeling as they left the cinema, elated at the distinctly old-school Trek adventure but gutted that Chekov and Spock Prime are no more.
