7. The Pro
This one shot by Garth Ennis, with pencils and lettering by Amanda Conner is about as adult and frankly dark as they come. It’s played for laughs, for the most part, but essentially The Pro tells the story of a fairly grimy prostitute who gains superpowers. She joins a superhero team, the League Of Honor, and soon offends pretty much everyone with her language, violence and sexual attitude.
In one of the craziest moments of the proceedings, the titular character gives the equivalent of Superman oral sex before he eventually shoots his load and inadvertently takes out an airliner with it. And it only gets more insane from there.
A few years back the comic's creators campaigned for a live-action film, with Sarah Silverman or Ellen Muth as the lead. But in today's cinematic climate, this seems like the role that funny girl Amy Schumer was born to play.
