15 Reasons Jurassic World Was Absolutely Perfect

2. The Score Is New But Familiar

Michael Giachhino's score is a little jarring at first, but upon further reflection, it's pretty good in its own way.

The music starts out basically how you'd expect it to, playing the classic Jurassic Park theme as the characters enter the island and those iconic gates open yet again. But from there, the original theme is actually used rather sparingly, and instead Giacchino adds a bunch of new themes that feel reminiscent of what Williams did but while also being completely different. The end credits song in particular is very close to the original Jurassic Park music, but it feels like a reinterpreted version rather than just a do over.

It initially might be a little disappointing to people who wanted to hear the classic theme more often, and that's perfectly understandable. But actually, this is a pretty wise move. Giacchnio doesn't smack the audiences over the head with the same thing you've heard over and over, but rather offers something brand new which still has the same spirit of what you've seen before. And that idea of offering something fresh which is still familiar and reminiscent of what you love is pretty much the whole experience of the movie, so Giacchnio's score fits perfectly well.
