15 Reasons Jurassic World Was Absolutely Perfect

14. It's (Almost) As Suspenseful As The Original

Colin Trevorrow gets the suspense just right in Jurassic World. The original Jurassic Park was a tremendously suspenseful movie, and starting with the famous scene of the T-Rex getting free for the first time, your heart is in your throat for practically the entire film from then on. It's just absolutely non-stop tension.

The sequels really lost that, especially Jurassic Park 3. That movie mostly just relies on dinosaurs popping out, the characters running away, and then repeat for 90 minutes. There are rarely any moments in that film where the audience feels tense for an extended period of time.

That's not the case with Jurassic World. This is the kind of film that makes you grab on to the arm rest next to you for minutes on end. One of the first setpieces involving the D-Rex’s cage is a total nail biter, and it only improves from there. Treverrow knows how to set up the stakes, putting lovable characters in dangerous situations and really drawing these sequences out until you find yourself forgetting to breathe.

One scene in particular involving the new gyrosphere echoes the jeep sequence from the original movie. The gyrosphere scene is just as tense as that one, and there’s a brilliant moment when Zach is desperately trying to grab his ringing phone to call for help that feels like such classic Spielberg
