15 Reasons Jurassic World Was Absolutely Perfect

13. It Has Just The Right Amount Of Callbacks

Every Jurassic Park fan of course wanted some callbacks and references to the original movie, but there is a limit to that. As great as Rise of the Planet of the Apes was, for example, they arguably went a bit over the top with the references there, going as far as to have Tom Felton say the "damn dirty ape" line verbatim in a super forced way.

Jurassic World is full of fan service, with lots of great, subtle callbacks and tie ins to the original movie, but Trevorrow never takes it over the top. A less skilled director would work in a character saying "Life finds a way" or maybe "Clever girl" as a dumb wink to the audience, but Trevorrow never puts us through that. All the little nods are in the background as just a part of this world, like the John Hammond statue or a brief Mr. DNA cameo towards the beginning.

In terms of fan service, though, it's crazy how much Trevorrow gives you exactly what you'd want here. Without giving too much away, with the final half hour of the movie, anyone who's even a moderate fan of Jurassic Park will have a smile on their face the entire time, and it's difficult to remember a film in recent memory that leaves the audience with such a profound sense of satisfaction.
