11. Curse Of Chucky
As time goes by, viewers aren’t reaching for the likes of The Curse of Michael Myers or Saw VI come All Hallows’ Eve, but don’t be surprised if this, the sixth coming of Chucky, soon becomes staple seasonal viewing.
With his opening trilogy, creator Don Mancini and a stable of directors crafted some effective slasher flicks, with the figurehead being a ginger doll with a penchant for cackling at people before eviscerating them. Going into the noughties, the series lost its way with both Bride and Seed Of Chucky playing for campy laughs, but now we have this little gem.
Stripped back and returning to the roots of what made this series so popular, Curse sees a refurbished Chucky terrorizing a family with connections to his true soul, serial killer Charles Lee Ray. Slosh through all the popped eye balls (two in this film), decapitations plus some poisonings and Mancini, has fashioned a good story here with the promise of more to come. Unbelievably, this must see movie went straight to DVD/Blu-Ray.
