15 Recent Movie Characters Destined To Be Iconic
3. Llewyn Davis - Inside Llewyn Davis
Similarly to La La Land, Inside Llewyn Davis is another movie surrounding the idea of never giving up on your dreams. In Llewyn Davis' case, however, it seems that the world is entirely against him.
Llewyn begins the film as a struggling folk singer, barely scraping by and sofa-surfing with friends for the large part. Constantly unsure of which opportunities to take and what his next step should be, Llewyn may seem a somewhat relatable character archetype for any of us that have struggled in our own respective passions.
Early on, Llewyn helps his friends record a novelty song that they had been commissioned, but due to his need of immediate cash, he opts for a one time payout as opposed to royalties. This, of course, turns out to be a smash success, and what he initially needed the money for turned out to not be an expense that he should have been paying in the first place.
When all of his musical avenues had been exhausted, he even attempted to rejoin the Merchant Marine and ship out, but as he had lost his pass and couldn't afford another, he was forced to return home empty handed.
What is more of a series of unfortunate events than any genuine developments in Llewyn's life, this character will remain iconic as a sort of quirky juxtaposition to the 'chasing your dreams' narrative.
