15 Rejected James Bond Themes You Didn't Know Existed

7. Scott Walker's "Only Myself To Blame"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCt4O4gJifQ Performed by legendary crooner Scott Walker, had David Arnold had his way Only Myself to Blame would have played over the closing credits of The World Is Not Enough. Fans of Scott Walker say it's amongst his finest work but to everyone else it sounds like Sinatra on half speed. Slow and funeral-like, the director Michael Apted agreed and promptly propelled it out of the movie like an arch-villain in an ejector seat, opting instead to close out with a trip-hop remix of the original franchise theme. It would have broken the mould and, as you've probably learned by now, drifting too far from the centre is something the team behind 007 aren't massively keen on. But it's not the first time Scott Walker has had a brush with a Bond song. In 1967 he and his two brothers Gary and John, The Walker Brothers, were approached to record the title track for You Only Live Twice. Famed for hits like Make It Easy On Yourself and The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore) they were red hot but clearly didn't fancy it, paving the way for Nancy Sinatra to step in and make another name for herself.
