10. Alice Cooper's "The Man With The Golden Gun"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDjdZoa9L6o For nearly 20 years Christopher Lee played Dracula in a string of Hammer Horror films, making him the clear choice for the villain in The Man With The Golden Gun. Bringing the face of fear into 007's world to play Scaramanga meant finding a theme song to match his macabre, darkly seductive acting style and in 1974 there was no better fit than rock rebel Alice Cooper. So why did producers opt for shouty Scot Lulu instead... Was it the chicken sacrifice? Was it his hatred for the American school system? Cooper claims it's because he was, in true rock and roll fashion, a day late in submitting the track. Alice Cooper's track, which did find its way onto the album Muscle of Love, is better in terms of musical merit and the backing vocals by Liza Minelli and the Pointer Sisters add nothing while Lulu's attempt, albeit forgettable, packs a more powerful vocal punch. So forgettable that it didn't even chart in the UK or US. It could have been worse. Martial arts featured heavily in The Man With The Golden Gun so just be grateful that producers didn't approach Carl Douglas instead who was in the charts at the time with Kung Fu Fighting.
