2. About Time

About Time movie
Universal Pictures

About Time is a romantic-drama from the legend that is Richard Curtis. Curtis brought us Notting Hill, Love Actually, Bridget Jones' Diary, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. It's Curtis' ability to blend humour with heartbreak that makes all of his films such well-loved masterpieces.

Released in 2013, About Time centres on Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) who is told by his father (Bill Nighy) that he has the ability to time travel. Tim uses this power to find himself a girlfriend - Mary (Rachel McAdams). He soon discovers that whilst his unique power can prove advantageous in certain situations, it doesn't always help him deal with the ordinary problems of life.

Don't be fooled into thinking About Time is a work of science fiction. About Time is concerned primarily with its characters and the everyday events that affect their lives. Gleeson and McAdams have great chemistry and comic-timing - and it's the bow on top of this gem of a film.
