Adrift is yet another film based on true events. This film - released in 2019 - centres on Tami (Shailene Woodley) and Richard (Sam Claflin) as their boat becomes stranded in the Pacific Ocean after a hurricane sends them off route. Together, this couple must try and find a way back to land. Of course, Adrift made this list and so the journey back to land is not a simple one.

It's an odd thing to criticise Adrift's plot as being 'predictable' as this almost discredits the horrific ordeal Tami and Richard went through - but that's exactly what critics did. Woodley's wonderful performance is what really matters. This isn't a Hollywood blockbuster full of twists and turns.

Adrift quite rightly places its focus on character instead of narrative. Much like The Impossible, Adrift is a film of survival. You'll be holding your breath and letting the tears roll in equal measures - but sometimes a rollercoaster of emotion is just what you need.
