3. Sid Haig (First Lawgiver)

Sid Haig was one of the most distinctive actors of his generation, becoming a regular fixture on the exploitation and horror film circuit in the 1970s, but being best known to modern audiences for his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's Firefly trilogy (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and 3 from Hell).

Though Haig ultimately racked up almost 150 credits and won himself a cult of fans in the process, one of his first-ever roles was on Star Trek: The Original Series, where he played the tiny part of the First Lawgiver in the season one episode "The Return of the Archons."

In fact, Haig's role isn't just small, it's also incredibly difficult to spot. He's kitted out in a brown robe which covers the majority of his face, such that there's virtually no chance for fans to catch him with their own two eyes.

Haig passed away from cardio-respiratory arrest aged 80 on September 21, mere days after the release of his final collaboration with Rob Zombie, 3 from Hell.
