13. David Hurst (Ambassador Hodin)

Prolific German theatre, TV, and film actor David Hurst had a memorable one-off appearance as Ambassador Hodin in The Original Series' third season episode "The Mark of Gideon."

Hodin is the leader of the Gideon Council on the planet Gideon, whereby he attempts to administer a plague to stem the planet's massive over-population problems - and actually succeeds.

Hurst subsequently appeared in hit series such as Mission: Impossible, The Mod Squad, Dark Shadows, and Charlie's Angels, as well as the Oscar-winning film Hello, Dolly!, before returning to Germany to work in theater and eventually retiring in 2000.

Hurst died aged 93 on September 15 after suffering from a stroke and pneumonia.
