15 Stupid Harry Potter Movie Mistakes You Probably Missed
12. The Pesky Visible Mic Packs
Any film student will tell you that it's an absolute nightmare to record audio in exterior locations and most of the time the sound technicians will favour hidden lapel microphones over the more conventional 'boomstick' mics that are held over the scene, out of sight.
You would think that experienced filmmakers would know every trick in the book to cover up these microphones and their ridiculously large power packs/wireless receivers but the team behind Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban dropped the ball really obviously during the time turner plotline.
Harry and Hermione travel back in time to manipulate events in order to save Sirius Black from the Dementors and prevent Buckbeak the Hippogriff from being executed after the proud beast left one on Draco Malfoy earlier in the film.
Whilst hiding from their other selves to avoid ripping apart the fabric of space time; the duo lean over Hagrid's crop of enormous pumpkins and reveal a pair of very suspicious lumps under their jackets. Their microphone power packs as so clearly visible that you don't even need to pause the film to see them.
With so few lines for the actors in this scene, it boggles the mind why they weren't dubbed in during post-production.
