15 Terrible Looking 2015 Movies That Will Shockingly Make A Profit
3. The Visit
Why It Looks Terrible: Because it's an M. Night Shyamalan film! Admittedly it's something of a change of pace for the maligned writer-director, a low-budget horror comedy without a particularly famous cast, but his last five films have bombed with critics, while his box office performance is just all over the place. Sure, it's possible that a back-to-basics approach might be just what he needs, but it's hard to put much faith in him after having released so many duds in a row. How It Will Make A Profit: Even though Shyamalan's name is infamous enough now that studios tend to downplay his involvement, if the movie is promoted as "from the director of The Sixth Sense", it'll probably be able to make its $5 million budget back, even if lead Kathryn Hahn is hardly a household name. Again, like a lot of movies on this list, Blumhouse Productions is behind it, and their track record with this sort of fare is very strong.
