Why It Looks Terrible: Though no footage has been released yet, Sinister 2 already sounds like a dubious prospect because the only returning talent of mention are actor James Ransone and screenwriters Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Scargill. Shannyn Sossamon this time plays the lead, in what pretty much just sounds like a generic straight-to-VOD retread of the original...except it's getting a theatrical release. Plus, with a largely untested director at the helm (Citadel's Ciaran Foy), there's not a lot to be encouraged by here. How It Will Make A Profit: Because if the original movie, which starred Ethan Hawke, only cost $3 million, it's likely that this sequel, without a major A-list actor on its roster, will probably be budgeted at even less, and as such even if it bombs by any traditional standard, it's almost certainly going to make money. The original movie made $77.7 million at the box office, so if Sinister 2 makes even just 10% of that (which it certainly will), it will be firmly in the black.
