15 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined Terminator For Everyone
6. The Heart Transplant (Terminator Salvation)
At the climax of Terminator Salvation, John Connor is mortally wounded during his battle with the T-800, and despite Kate's (Bryce Dallas Howard) best efforts to save him, his heart has suffered too much damage to be salvaged. However, a saviour comes in the form of Marcus, who offers up his own heart to save John's life and keep the resistance afloat. There are two problems with this idea: a) it's totally ridiculous and impossible to believe that Kate could perform a heart transplant in the totally not-sterile environment of the desert and b) it's extremely rushed through in the final moments of the film, not really giving the audience any time to process it before the credits roll. The originally-planned, much darker ending in which John Connor is killed and his likeness is stretched over Marcus' body to preserve the myth of the resistance leader would have been a much more interesting ending even if the logistical issues of placing Connor's face on a machine are both clunky and incredibly gross.
