15 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined Terminator For Everyone

11. CGI Arnie (Terminator Salvation)

Due to his role as the Governor of California, when a fourth Terminator film was announced, Arnold Schwarzenegger was only able to have the most limited of roles, which ultimately ended up being a silent CGI cameo rather than a brief walking-on part. Near the end of the movie, John Connor (Christian Bale) faces off against another T-800 model, who was played by Austrian actor Roland Kickinger, with a crude CGI model of Schwarzenengger's face pasted over the top. Though the clear pressure to at least feature Arnie in some fashion was evident, the final results look more awkward and silly than anything else: it's a cool scene in theory, but the distractingly bad, video game-esque CGI Arnold just doesn't measure up to the real thing. Smartly, at least, director McG doesn't linger on Arnold's face for too long, and eventually his skin is burned away, leaving just the endoskeleton behind, leading to a less distracting showdown with Connor. No matter how bad the upcoming Genisys might be, at least it has Arnie in the flesh.
