15 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

3. The Lone Ranger

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 31% Why It Sucks: Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer learned the hard way that putting Johnny Depp in make-up was not an instant recipe for success: the surprisingly boring and wildly overlong 149-minute The Lone Ranger was every bad Hollywood instinct distilled into one horribly over-produced movie. The plot sucks, the cast are horribly wasted, and the CGI action onslaught is ultimately more exhausting than entertaining. Why It'll Become A Cult Classic: The Lone Ranger's notoriety among audiences is so strong that, for many, the movie simply doesn't live up to the awful reputation. These low expectations may result in a number of viewers going easy on the movie, seeing its reputation as unfair, and even enjoying it as a wild action adventure flick and little else. And of course, there are those who a) love the source material and b) love Johnny Depp, so despite generally being reviled, the movie is going to have plenty of fans, even if this isn't reflected in its box office figures.
