15 Terrible Scenes In Awesome Comic Book Movies

2. Apparently, Toads Conduct Electricity - X-Men

The importance of X-Men cannot be overstated. Without Bryan Singer's first adaptation of everyone's favourite mutant team, Hollywood would be dramatically different today. Prior to the success of X-Men, the aesthetic of Batman & Robin represented comic book movies to the majority and this was a sorry state of affairs indeed. Fortunately, Singer's take on superheroes chose to forego the cheesy elements of the Batman franchise in favour of a more realistic and grounded interpretation of superheroes... well, for the most part anyway. Storm is badass in the comics and there's no denying it and Halle Berry's career was still riding strong pre-Catwoman, but her portrayal in the X-Men series is definitely one of the franchises low points, particularly in the final battle at the end of the first film. Storm faces off against Toad in a fight that should have lasted about three seconds, but was drawn out longer, because apparently a guy who jumps and has a long tongue is definitely an even match for someone who controls THE VERY FORCES OF NATURE! Shockingly, Storm manages to win the fight, but does so using the lamest one-liner ever committed to celluloid. "You know what happens when a toad gets struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everyone else."... so, yeah. If Storm hadn't blasted Toad off that balcony into the ocean, it's extremely likely he would have jumped off himself. Fortunately, Berry was given a chance to redeem herself a few short years later, starring in a solo Catwoman movie. Oh no, wait. The word "redeem" was a typo. It's supposed to say "Embarrass herself further."
