15 Terrible Scenes In Awesome Comic Book Movies

8. Lady Of The Night - Guardians Of The Galaxy

Much has been made of the risk Marvel took with Guardians Of The Galaxy, a ragtag band of misfits who end up saving the cosmos, but if the characters are strong enough, it shouldn't matter whether the original property is famous or not. Chris Pratt became a superstar with the role of Star-Lord, Groot won over the hearts of millions, Rocket was a badass from the get-go, Drax delivered a number of hilarious one-liners and Gamora? Well, she's just a green whore... GOTG may have cracked jokes left, right and centre, but this particular remark made by Drax didn't sit well with fans, to the point where director James Gunn had to verbally address these concerns in a public forum. Drax interprets everything around him in the most literal sense, so detractors argued that he had no reason to call Gamora a whore. After all, Gamora isn't seen to cavort with numerous men and Drax himself has far more skin on display. Gunn argues that Drax heard other prisoners call Gamora a whore and because he doesn't understand nuance, that's simply what he thought she was. The issue here though is why include that scene in the film at all? Guardians Of The Galaxy was popular with men and women alike, but this one particular moment instantly alienates half of the audience. Perhaps there's a deleted scene we don't know about where Gamora takes a break from the assassin gig to sleep with men for money on the side. Sounds ridiculous, but it still makes more sense than Thor taking a dip in mystical cave dew.
