15 Things In Harry Potter That Don't Make Sense
2. Felix Felicis
Felix Felicis, or liquid luck, is introduced in the Half-Blood Prince, thanks to the new potions master, Horace Slughorn. The professor offers a small vial of the potion as a prize in one of his classes. Of course this is a competition Harry wins thanks to the notes in his book from the titular prince.
Slughorn describes the potion as difficult to make, disastrous if it goes wrong, but when done right, will make all of the user's endeavours succeed. This is proved to be true later in the movie. Despite heading to Hagrid's and completely ignoring Slughorn and the plan to extract the professor's memory, Harry almost blindly finds himself in a situation with an intoxicated and loose-tongued Slughorn, talking about Tom Riddle, and reminiscing over Lily Potter - the perfect moment to break the potions master.
Just seconds later Harry gets what he needs, thanks completely to his liquid luck. With this the case then, why doesn't Harry, with the help of Slughorn and any of the good wizards skilled in potions, set to brewing Felix Felicis in bulk before heading into the fight with Voldemort?
Should the forces of good focus on this instead of anything else, and simply endeavor to find Tom Riddle's horcruxes and kill the dark lord, by very definition of the potion, their endeavour would be successful. They could, in theory, wander round aimlessly as Harry did, and stumble on the answers they need to find the bits of Voldemort's soul.
