Amongst a plethora of groundbreaking achievements in the film industry, the first Toy Story movie will forever hold the distinction of being the first feature length computer-animated movie ever made, an accomplishment that is recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Toy Story also became the first animated movie to be nominated for ‘Best Screenplay’ at the 68th Academy Awards, although it lost out to The Usual Suspects, then fifteen years later, Toy Story 3 was nominated for the ‘Best Picture’ Oscar, becoming the first sequel to be nominated for the award without any of the franchise’s previous movies having been nominated.

The Toy Story movies also smashed records at the box office, with Toy Story 3 becoming the first animated movie to make over $1 Billion worldwide, earning more revenue than the first two movies combined.

With Toy Story 4 also making over a billion dollars worldwide, narrowly beating the third movies total, the Toy Story franchise has made over $3 Billion at the box office. I think it’s fair to say it has been a successful endeavour.
