15 Unbelievably Hideous Horror Movie Sequels

3. The Ring Two

Saw V Strahm
DreamWorks Pictures

The American remake of Ring was arguably over-praised, but good lord, at least it was better than this... thing.

Filled with bland writing, terrible CGI and overdone jump scares, The Ring Two is a staggeringly dull, wet and tension-free mess that simply couldn't be less scary if it tried.

The only thing shocking about this movie is that it's directed by Hideo Nakata, the excellent horror director who directed the original Ring. Judging by his unusually bad directing here, it seems likely he was also aware of how bad the film was and realized he couldn't save it.

After all, even the world's most talented director couldn't save a film that features a 'scare' in which a poorly-rendered pack of CGI deer attack a car in a moment that somehow feels even stupider than the opening of Grown Ups 2.

2017's Rings, which was critically mauled, was also a terrible film but even that wasn't as bad as this.
