15 Most Underrated 1980's Movies You Must See

7. Something Wild (1986)

Something Wild is a very strange film. Tonally, the film is all over the place. Is it a light-hearted screwball farce? Is it a road movie? Is it a revenge film? Is it an action film or a comedy? These tonal shifts are, believe it or not, a big part of Something Wild's appeal. You go in expecting one thing and the film goes in a completely different direction and keeps the viewer on their toes. A New York yuppie named Charlie takes off with with a noirish woman named Lulu after she confronts him for not paying for his meal at a cafe. The two engage on a long and exhausting road trip where Lulu and Charlie engage in various hjinks and learn a little something about each other and themselves along the way. There are great performances from a young Ray Liotta, Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels. Look at for cameos by film directos John Sayles and John Waters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaFAupcn4IQ
