We've laughed, we've cried, we've "Oooooh'd" and we've "Aaaaaah'd". And by the time the show was over, we had found a new Marvel cinematic property to obsess over. But before the credits rolled (and you know we all sat there in silence right until the very end, to catch the inevitable post-credits teaser scene), we're given one last bit of feel-good cinema - the fresh new Groot sapling, shaking his stem to the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back". After the emotion of the final stand-off against Ronan, a bit of comic relief was just what we needed. We all know that there's a sequel on the way, but that doesn't mean we need to be left hanging breathlessly with loose ends untied. Instead we're given a silly little closing scene that fits the vibe of the film perfectly, and a brilliant way to end on a high note, leaving audiences smiling as they stumble happily out of the cinema.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
