Who would have thought that the character widely castigated as the most comedic gimmick in Justice League would quietly emerge as one of the most exciting parts of the entire DCEU?

Seeing Ezra Miller's Flash and Ray Fisher's Cyborg will of course be interesting, but we pretty much already know what to expect of the former and the latter remains an unknown quantity, and Warner Bros have already gone heavy on Momoa's performance as a key selling point of the ensemble. Judging by how well it's already been received, that's a master-stroke.

In Momoa's hands, Aquaman looks more like an sea-salted surfer rock God, dripping with attitude, unfazed by Batman's claim to leadership and unconcerned with trivialities like the impending doom of Darkseid's invasion (until it directly affects him). He's cool and menacing, and he's definitely not someone who you'd reduce to simply being that guy who talks to fish, which is a pretty big thing.
