15 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Villains We Can’t Wait To See
6. Erik Killmonger (And Klaue)
The Movie: Black Panther
Played By: Michael B Jordan (And Andy Serkis)
Much like Aquaman, Black Panther will see a newly crowned leader of a magical kingdom wrestling with finding his place in the world, his new responsibilities and a rising threat intent on dethroning him and taking his crown. That threat in Wakandan terms comes from exiled youngster Erik Killmonger who grows up believing his rule of Wakanda would be the right thing for the country.
Killmonger has been likened to X-Men's Magneto (and his relationship with T'Challa will ape Magneto's with Professor X apparently), and it's always good to see the introduction of principled villains who genuinely believe what they're doing is right. They're far more complex and more entertaining than simple pantomime villains.
On top of that, casting Michael B Jordan - a Ryan Coogler veteran - is a great call: he's one of the hottest young talents currently working and there's an intensity to his performances that suggest he's made to play a villain.
Alongside him, we'll also get to see more of Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaue, who will seemingly play second in command to Killmonger and help him get back to Wakanda - though it seems unlikely that he'll live through the entire film. Serkis' performance in Age Of Ultron was fun enough to warrant more, and this time we know he's coming equipped with his sonic blaster arm as an added bonus.
