15 Upcoming Horror Films You Should Be Excited About

10. Before I Wake (September 25)

From director Mike Flanagan, the premise of Before I Wake is really interesting and unique: a young boy has a gift that causes his dreams to come to life...but that also applies to his nightmares. A young couple who adopts the boy slowly becomes terrorized by his increasingly horrifying dreams.

Mike Flanagan has directed some of the most underrated horror films of the past few years, including Oculus and Absentia, so his involvement alone is enough to make Before I Wake worth paying attention to. But that premise also could open the door to a number of truly unique scares, and Flanagan's previous films were already full of plenty of novel concepts.

Given that everything is a manifestation of the boy's nightmares, basically anything Flanagan can think of can happen in this film, and that's pretty exciting. And though we've seen lots of movies about dreams, we haven't seen as many about dreams becoming a part of the real world. Before I Wake hits on September 25, just in time for the Halloween season.
