Why It Should Suck: It's a DC Extended Universe movie that isn't Wonder Woman: what else is there to say? The Aquaman solo movie is certainly the franchise's riskiest project to date, given the character being a bit of a joke in general pop-culture and the technically complex nature of a production involving so much water.

Oh, and it's written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad), which doesn't inspire much hope either.

Why It Might Be Awesome: The secret weapon here is unquestionably writer-director James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring, Furious 7).

He sure knows how to put an entertaining movie together, and given his improbable success salvaging the Furious 7 production following Paul Walker's death, the guy has experience keeping a cool head during challenging productions.

The first footage unspooled at CinemaCon was also generally well-received by attendees, which provides some hope that this could be another big surprise for the DCEU.
